In 2013 Margot Molyneux, a women’s wear brand in Cape Town, launched a non-profit initiative, called The Poncho Project, which was aimed at keeping the homeless and less fortunate in Cape Town warm during the city’s icy winters.
Over the past two years, Capetonians (and friends of #MMStudio around the country) have donated to the project, enabling them to produce and distribute over 300 ponchos to these worthwhile beneficiaries: The Night Haven Shelter, Greenpoint; Hokisa, Masiphumalele; Saron Pre-primary, Saron; Lawrence House, Woodstock; and people living on the streets in the city centre.
The ponchos are made to last and come in two sizes – adult and child.
Even though this is a winter project, Margot Molyneux are still able to accept donations in preparation to start producing the ponchos for next year. For more information on how to place your order please visit: www.margotmolyneux.com
When the digestive system works best, it is highly efficient at breaking your food into usable nutrients. The tools? Probiotics, digestive enzymes, and magnesium supplementation.
Acne occurs when a substance known as sebum builds up and combines with dead skin cells. This clogs the skin's pores, producing inflammation and infection, which we recognise as acne.
Swim, walk, play soccer or go to the gym — it’s your choice. Just find a way to fit more exercise into your day, as some studies suggest it’s as effective as sedatives. When 2 624 women and men were encouraged to exercise more, insomnia dropped by 64% and reports of restless sleep fell by 59%. In another study, troubled sleepers who added about 30 min of exercise (such as walking) four times per week, into their daily routine, reported falling asleep 15 minutes sooner and sleeping about an hour more each night compared to those who didn’t exercise.
All 30 people who participated in a study (conducted at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign), scored better in cognitive tasking tests (increased working memory and mental acuity) immediately after a yoga session than they did after an aerobic session. They also reported feeling more calm, centred, and relaxed, after the yoga session whereas they only felt a little tired after the aerobic session.
