One of the most important things about getting a good night’s sleep is making sure your blood sugar level stays stable throughout the night.
A recent study conducted by researchers from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden is the first research ever to indicate that consuming two sweetened beverages a day, including ‘diet’ drinks such as diet coke, raises the risk of heart failure by almost 25%.
Says Gavin Sandercock of the University of Essex, ‘This study is very interesting. It shows there is no difference in the effects of drinks which do or do not contain any sugar.’ The take-home message here is: an occasional sweet drink indulgence is fine, but why not rather abandon them altogether?
Think twice before glugging down that energy drink! Recent research from the Mayo Clinic reveals that drinking just one 470 ml energy drink can increase blood pressure and stress hormone responses significantly, even in healthy people, leading to an increased risk in cardiovascular disease.
Extra virgin olive oil contains an anti-inflammatory substance called oleocanthal, which inhibits inflammation in a way that’s identical to the painkiller ibuprofen.
If you have tried and failed at losing weight, you are in good company. Up to 95% of dieters fail within a year and more than 70% of gym-goers quit in less than 90 days.
